Pisco was first made in the 16th century when the Spanish Vice Royalty was based in Lima, Peru. The Spaniards brought grapes from the Canary Islands for production of wine in the Americas.
The history of Pisco in the United States began during the gold rush in San Francisco where miners traveled north to see if they would hit the jackpot, and met up with the ships heading north from Peru carrying with them the great Pisco spirits.
Many Pisco Houses began to pop up in San Francisco in the early 1900's, ending unfortunately with the passing of prohibition as a constitutional amendment. Once prohibition was repealed, much of the history of Pisco in the US was lost, and has just recently been recovered as many premium Pisco producers are re-introducing this great spirit to the American consumer.
With a slinky smooth taste and a tantalizing bite, the new Gran Sierpe Pisco recreates a lost tradition of Pisco production from Humay, Peru, using the finest grapes and the most modern distillation practices from an award winning Pisco distillery.
Gran Sierpe Quebranta Pisco is made from this single variety of Quebranta, a non-aromatic dark grape. Quebranta is considered a "pure" pisco, because no blending between grape varieties occurs.
Gran Sierpe is smooth, flavorful and delivers on the promise of a bold drinking experience. "The Spirit of the Snake."
