Aguardiente Antioqueno guaros are traditional Central American liquors. They are distilled from a base of sugar cane juice similar to rhum agricole or cachaca but at a lower proof, which retains more sweetness.
In 1493 Columbus, on his second voyage to the New World, brought back the aborgines' sugarcane, honey and a bittersweet liquid that they call guarapo. Aguardiente Antioqueno is a dry liquor obtained with extra pure alcohol from the by-products of molasses, virgin honey and sugar, with its traditional flavor of anise essence. It is the traditional drink of Colombia, closely linked to the regional festivals and the customs of the Colombian people, especially in Antioquia where the farmers incorporate it into their culture.
Aguardiente Antioqueno sin Azucar guaro is the "sugar free" expression. "Much better, smoother, less hangover...."
