Kentucky. William Larue Weller Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Limited Edition, 750ml. Barrel strength. Uncut & Unfiltered. **We do not expect to have any more of this item available this season. We do not keep a wait list.**
In 1849, at a time when other distillers were producing "rye" bourbons, William LaRue Weller bottled his proprietary blend of corn, malted barley and wheat. The result was a smoother sipping whiskey that offered a unique richness to bourbon's traditional taste.
From the Distiller about the 2010 release: "The fragrance is alive with scents of pepper, oak, caramel corn, new leather, plums, light toffee and pipe tobacco. The palate entry is astoundingly rich, deeply honey-like, and gently warming; the mid-palate features tastes of marshmallow, caramel corn, sautéed almonds, nougat, figs and dates. Finishes composed and flavorfully sweet." To personalize the flavors add mineral water in amounts to your liking. Delicious!
"The initial nose impact is full of cotton candy and black walnuts. It develops into luscious dried fruit sweetness that is in perfect harmony with soft vanilla, powdered sugar and cinnamon spices. Upon sipping it starts with a smooth full mouth feel and as it drifts back on the palate -BOOM- an explosion of big bourbon flavors. Oak, smoky sweetness and candied fruit dance across your tongue. This quaff is not without heat as it warms the senses without flame. It's a hearty drink, but the finish is very fresh and invigorating. It takes a back seat to none."
Wine Enthusiast: Deep bronze hue. Mature aromas of lanolin, almond oil and creamed corn greet the olfactory sense; aeration unleashes full-throttle scents of toasty oak and vanilla extract: a top-notch Bourbon bouquet. Palate entry is dry, complex and toasty; midpalate offers sweet, grainy tastes of Wheat Thins, oil and sap. Aftertaste is oaky, sweet and intensely grainy. Another Weller triumph.
