Mexico. Don Julio 70th Anniversary Anejo Claro **Limited Edition** 750ml 80 proof. Free shipping.
Don Julio tequilas are named for Julio Gonzales who founded the La Primavera distillery in 1942 in order to control all the process of tequila craft from harvesting to bottling.
Don Julio 70 is nothing less than extraordinary. It's aged in American white oak barrels for 18 months and filtered to bring to the fore the bold agave flavor typically found in a blanco.
Don Julio 70 Anejo Claro starts as Don Julio Anejo and filters the tequila through a specialty process that brings back the bold agave flavor typically found in a Blanco. The result is a crystal clear tequila that combines traditional Anejo and Blanco flavors.
It sounds similar to Maestro Dobel Diamond Tequila, which blends reposado, anejo and extra anejo tequilas, and then filters out all the color for a tequila that exhibits oak maturity in flavor, but not in appearance. But as noted above, 70 Anejo Claro is no blend, as it's created strictly from Don Julio Anejo.
The result is a crystal-clear tequila that integrates traditional aňejo and blanco flavors. This is a must-have and brings some excitement and new flavor to those who have never tried a tequila of this stature.
Nose: A bright and lively aroma opens up tones of fresh agave, wild honey, vanilla, citrus and strawberry, balanced with aged tequila notes of sweet toasted oak, caramel and milk chocolate.
Taste: Displays the exceedingly refined complexity of aged Anejo tequila balanced with the versatility and smoothness of a silver. Contains notes of fresh honey, black peppercorn, lemon and smoky agave that blend harmoniously with wood influenced vanilla, toasted almonds and tobacco. Lightly sweet and satiny body.
Finish: Concludes with a clean and smooth finish that is pleasantly warming with engaging lingering hints of chocolate and toffee.
